Changing Values
Residents used to rely on horses or donkeys, for instance, to ride in the mountains while fetching spring water for cooking, bathing, or washing.
In a world with more access to technology, movement, and resources, the younger generations embrace these changes. Using trucks, ATV and motorcycles to get around is more frequent for residents of all ages. Some elders vividly recalled to me the plants that they used to encounter when they would wander the land.
After receiving piped water, there was no longer needed to walk to the spring to collect water. There was little reason to walk the path to the spring and slowly paths was grown over with plants.
